A Wild At Heart Retreat (formerly BASIC) isn’t just another men’s retreat. That’s the last thing anybody needs. The reason most messages for men ultimately fail is simple: they ignore what is deep and true to a man’s heart and try to shape him up through various forms of pressure.

Not this. This event is an honest, no-BS trek into the deep passions and desires of a man’s heart, the healing of the wounds he’s taken in this battle, the realm of fatherhood and sex and God and calling—life as it was meant to be lived.

For over two decades, Wild At Heart retreats, featuring John and his team in-person, have taken place in remote locations around the world. Previously, only individuals who could afford and manage the travel had access to these impactful gatherings. Today, this transformative event is accessible to men everywhere by empowering local hosts in facilitating this life-changing journey for the men in their communities. Wild At Heart Retreats package all video sessions from the live events, along with resources designed to support local hosts.

Through the sessions, times of quiet reflection, movies, adventures and downtime, you will discover something profound about the heart of God and the heart he gave you as a man. Those who come say it is one of the greatest weekends of their entire life. Now It’s your turn.

Trade the daily grind for the rugged beauty of the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, right where the rushing waters of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers collide. Just outside historic Harpers Ferry, our secluded retreat offers the ultimate untamed backdrop to tackle the outdoors, disconnect from the noise, and forge unbreakable brotherhood.

You will spend the weekend re-connecting with your heart alongside like-minded men. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey—even if you are doubting or struggling in your faith—you will find an environment free from guilt, shame, and manipulation. There will also be space for downtime, to enjoy nature, fun activities, and to connect with others around the campfire. 

We will be spending the weekend nestled in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge in the Potomac Highlands, our retreat home offers a rugged gateway to historic Harpers Ferry and the surrounding Appalachian scenery. A few of the amenities are: Private Swimming hole + small waterfall on site; covered basketball court; game room w/ ping-pong + billiards; 12 private acres to roam and explore; large year-round stream; beautiful screened-in porch w/ egg chairs + lounge furniture; grill; cornhole and kan jam. It is a place where you can build lifelong friendships, develop unforgettable memories, and get to know the God who created it all.

Free time is built into the retreat on Friday and Saturday afternoons. On-site and nearby activities are available including kayaking, hiking, fishing, etc. You may want to bring a hammock and find a quiet spot by the river or in the woods to rest and soak in God’s beauty. In the evenings we will have a campfire.

This event is designed for men ages 18 and older. College students welcomed.
